If you are a complete newbie to sports betting attempting to realize which bet type to make can be confusing. A couple of the names for a variety of bets may end up making you scratch the head. That is why we will go over some of the most popular types of betting in the post below.
- The Moneyline bet
It is famous as one wager on which team becomes the winner of the game outright. Rather than accounting for the game’s spread, both the underdog and the favorite are given odds for winning the game.
For instance, assume that the New England Patriots become heavy favorites for winning over the Cleveland Browns. Then, the Moneyline odds should be Cleveland (+270) vs. New England (-300). When you bet 100 USA on the Patriots for beating the Browns outright, 33.33 USD will be what you win over the bet for a 133.33 USD payout. Do you bet 100 USD on the Browns for beating the Patriots outright? If so, you will earn 270 USD on the bet for a 370 USD payout.
- The spread bet
It is one wager on which team covers the “point spread” (also, the “spread”). For instance, assume that the Golden State Warriors become favorites to get the victory by -8.5 points against +8.5 points from the Portland Trail Blazers. Your betting on the Golden State is equal to your betting that they will win over the Trail Blazers by over eight-and-one-half points. Your betting on Portland means your betting that they will beat or lose by no more than eight-and-one-half points.
With the spread bet, the odds provided tend to range between -105 & -125 for the team. The odds can be similar. In the above example, the bets are provided at -110 odds.
